Pricing

Work chargedby the minute.

Most bookkeepers charge a flat monthly retainer whether they touch your file or not. We don’t. So 36 minutes of bookkeeping only costs you 36 minutes.

Solo $85/hr
2 to 5 employees $95/hr
6 or more employees $110/hr

Bigger businesses pay more, so solo owners can pay less. No retainers, no minimums.

Commonquestions.

We take it one year at a time, starting with the oldest. Find and attach the receipts, review the books, sort the expenses, file it, then move to the next.

We’ll talk to the CRA for you.

If you owe money, the CRA charges a penalty on the balance, plus more for every month it stays unpaid. It’s higher if they’ve already sent you a demand to file.

If you don’t owe anything, there’s usually no penalty. Either way, file, even if you’re late.

The CRA’s interest rates change every quarter, so we work out your actual number when we look at your file.

Usually both, doing different jobs. As bookkeepers, we keep your books current all year. A CPA (chartered accountant) files the return.

We partner with a great accountant, or you can bring your own. We work with anybody.

Yes. The CRA treats it as business income no matter where it came from. If you’re a sole proprietor, it goes on form T2125. If you’re incorporated, it’s regular revenue for the corporation.

Either way, you get to deduct what you spend to make it.

Because you don’t have a W-8BEN on file. Without one, Google can hold back up to 24% of everything you earn. With one, US tax only applies to what you earn from viewers in the United States, and for most Canadians the tax treaty brings that to 0%.

It takes us about 20 to 30 minutes inside AdSense: we add your business info, confirm you’re a Canadian individual or corporation, and submit the form. If Google already took some, you can usually get it back.

Once your revenue passes $30,000.

There are two ways to hit it: $30,000 in a single calendar quarter, or $30,000 across any four quarters in a row. The window rolls, so it can start in any quarter, and all your income counts together across every platform.

Cameras, lenses, lighting, audio, software, subscriptions, part of your phone and internet, home office, editors you hire and travel for shoots. Business meals and entertainment count too, usually at 50%.

Big gear gets depreciated over a few years instead of written off all at once.

$85 an hour solo, $95 with 2 to 5 employees, $110 with 6 or more. Tracked to the minute. No retainer, so a quiet month costs you almost nothing.

We make sure you don’t. Every month we work out roughly what you’ll owe, so you can put it aside as you go.

If you owe more than $3,000 in a year, the CRA usually expects instalment payments during the year. A lot of people don’t know this. We track it and tell you what to pay and when.

Yes. We’re remote and work across Canada.

It depends on the situation. If it’s simple, yes, we can do it.

If it gets legal or complicated, like dual citizenship or a move to or from the US, we’ll point you to the right people.

Yes. We file your corporation’s annual return and keep track of the due date so it’s never late.

That’s our specialty. Back taxes, unfiled tax returns, late filing, messy books and catch-up bookkeeping are what we love doing.

Five years unfiled, a shoebox of receipts, a QuickBooks file someone gave up on. All normal. Don’t tidy it first. We’ll take over.

Yes, absolutely. We set up your software and your chart of accounts, show you how to run it, then hand it over so you can do your own bookkeeping. We’re a call away if you get stuck.

A COO runs the operations of a business and a CFO runs the money. Most small businesses can’t afford to hire either. A virtual one does the same work remotely, only for the time you need. With us that’s billed by the minute.
